Saving for travel
„More, more and more” – this is probably the motto of today.
Internet, advertising, social media … It all surrounds us and affects us. Popular people show different products and make us want to buy it. And we do it often. This leads to consumerism, the definition of which according to the Dictionary of the Polish Language is: „an attitude to life that manifests itself in the excessive consumption of various material goods in relation to the needs.”
Traveling in our style has shown us that we need little to live.
You don’t need a large wardrobe full of clothes to dress nicely. A few T-shirts or pants are enough.
Same thing with everyday items. Sure, we could take a lot more stuff, but we’d have to carry it on our backs or, in the case of a car trip, it would take up more space and the car would be heavier – and that means more fuel consumption and more money spent on fuel.
You can read about what we packed in the car for the trip here.
In order for the trip to take place at all, you need money. And where do we get the money for all this (read – travel)?
From work and from saving. We both study extramural, work during the week and have classes on the weekends. Combining it (and finding time for yourself) is not easy, but it can be.
For our first bigger trip, and it was hitchhiking around Poland, we earned money by working 2 months in a food warehouse. After the holidays, the academic year began and we went to „normal work”. First, to earn money for college, and second, to collect for my next adventure.

What can you save on to save on travel?
Remember that everything really depends on you – what are your needs and what you are able to give up.
• Nails – cost about PLN 50 per month, and maybe even more. My hands could look nice and feminine, but I don’t need it and I don’t like it ?.
• Records and preorders – Szymon just loves it. Before we started going anywhere, he could really buy a CD every now and then
• New clothes – you know when you need something, you buy it, you have to wear something. But is another new T-shirt really necessary for us to be happy? It’s worth going to second-hand shops – you can find original clothes for pennies.
• Food – sometimes it’s worth giving up a meal in the city and cooking it yourself. You can also spend time with someone in an interesting way ?.
These are just a few examples of how you can save money on trips. It is also not that we deny ourselves everything and do not have any pleasures in everyday life. If we want a pizza – we’ll buy ourselves a pizza, why not. But everything is smart!
More new items are tempting, but how much you can see for the price!
